Keynsham Brass Band

Another Tradition at the Keynsham Music Festival…. Our favourite local brass band bringing us some rousing classics to start off the day.

Rebecca Cant

Rebecca Cant is a Essex-born singer-songwriter who has spent the last 8 years travelling through Asia and the States. Her heart-felt music is inspired by the Buddhist mountains of Korea, the vivid chaos of India and the slow heat of the Southern US. Warm and sincere, her performances blend together blues, country, folk and soul.


2.25 – 3.00

Mark Abbis

Mark Abis will certainly get your attention. His musical sensibility is obvious as he performs  beautiful original melodies with  poignant lyrics sung with a warm and distinctive voice. With each live appearance, he gives that little bit extra, leaving his audience in no doubt that they have truly witnessed something wonderfully unique.

3.15 – 3.45

Troubador Hook

Sparse acoustic plucks peppered with gentle speak singing, lilting vocalizations and smooth scats. Sweet tempered tones recall lullabies, Sunday school, dreamy 60’s folk and an age before jarring alarm clocks, traffic noise and unnecessary amplification. “Poised and personable, with serious poetic songs lifted by great use of their three voices and unlikely instruments,.. quite sparkling” Tony Benjamin (Venue):

Influences are far reaching and comparisons have been made to artists as diverse as Crosby/Stills, Beirut, Les Baxter and Syd Barrett!

Lions Duck Race

A Keynsham Festival Tradition. All the money from the Duck race feeds back into the local community via the Lions Charity work. So..buy a duck and watch it swim!


4.05 – 4.40

The Trish Brown Band

Sublime vocals from Trish Brown together with a radical group of veteran musicians from the Bristol circuit bringing you original jazz, blues and soulful tunes. Described as  “funkalicious and electrifying”, this big band is not to be missed.


5.00 – 5.35

Bashema

Jelli Records artist, Bashema (www.myspace.com/bashemasolo) returns to the Bandstand Stage, bringing with her a full band this year including Trish Brown on backing vocals and sax.  A talented pianist with a vocal style reminiscent of Nina Simone,  Bashema will be performing a wonderful cocktail of uptempo soul, jazz and pop. performing jazz, pop .

Her recently released single, Liberty, was described by Venue Magazine as “an absolute delight.


5.55 – 6.30

The Vamos Band

Spanish rumba, French swing and British ska surrounded by the most enchanting choruses. Mix it all together and that  becomes The Vamos! sound – an eclectically happy knees up that will shake your bones and move you to the end of your toes!

Troy Ellis and the Hail Jamaica Reggae Band

Troy Ellis Son of the legendary Alton Ellis O.D. ….”King of Rocksteady”

A natural performer from the early ages of childhood on the streets of Trenchtown, Jamaica to more recently at London’s Royal Albert Hall and The Glastonbury Festival’s Jazz World Stage…
Likened to his father in many ways, Troy is not your average performer. Mixing dance, Vocals and a burning desire to party like his audience. Troy is always the one guy that everyone remembers…
Backed by his very own “Hail Jamaica Reggae Band” put together for Troy to fulfil his ambition to follow in the footsteps of his late great father. Consisting of seven musicians with extensive experience in Reggae and Ska music providing the perfect complement for Troy’s vocal styling’s
