The Andrews Top Stage
Don’t call this our Main Stage, but you know that this is where you will see some very special acts – it rocks but still offers enough variation and entertainment for all – very local and international.
RockPipes are a Bristol based Celtic rock band performing an eclectic mix of traditional Scottish and Rock Classics featuring two pipers, drums, guitars, keyboards and fiddle.
We’re a bunch of friends ‘of an age’ who like to jam out together, with the ultimate goal of providing our audiences with some fun entertainment.
The effect they had on the Bandstand Stage last year was astonishing, and we had to have them back – you don’t often see anything like this – or indeed as many sets of bagpipes in one place: not to be missed
Bennie Hawkins is an up and coming singer songwriter from Essex set for a meteoric rise. At just 16, this young performer has the confidence and song-writing skills of someone beyond his years. With silky vocals and well penned songs he’s set to have a very bright future indeed.
We heard him performing at Longwell Records on Vinyl day last April …. not really sure how that happened!
2018’s One to Watch
He’ll be singing on Grounded Garden Stage too over the weekend – afterall Essex is a long way to come: see
The Phoenix River Band’s roots stretch back over 20 years and with a large back catalogue of original and varied songs stretching over 5 albums PRB (and its earlier incarnations) has performed with many classic bands including Wishbone Ash, 10cc, The Blockheads, Yardbirds, Curved Air, The Christians, Focus and Walter Trout. Throughout the journey the songs have consistently originated from the pen of Chris Melhuish (guitar/vocals)– but the interpretation and ‘fingerprint’ sound is down to the musicianship of the band: Andy Allpass (keys), Dave Dunster (drums), Syd Riley (guitar) and Mike Pitt (bass). PRB has a family element too with daughters Jo Melhuish and Shelley Dunster in the vocals department. With its recent album ‘Empty Road’ one review said “Like cruising in a cadillac with Chris Rea at the wheel and Pink Floyd and the Allman Brothers in the back”.

Saskia Griffiths-Moore is a contemporary folk singer, blending simple acoustic songs with modern moods, melodies and meanings, and has been performing full time on the folk and acoustic circuit for three years, singing at folk clubs, theatre’s and festivals alike.
Having left school with not much more than a GCSE in Astronomy, Saskia set up practice on Harley street as the world’s youngest craniosacral therapist, which she promptly left behind age 22 to follow her passion into music, learning her craft on the streets; busking, singing and touring her way through the country all the while living in her campervan without WiFi or electricity.
Saskia’s authentic sound has found her video’s featured three times on Sky Television (2017, 2018), and her newest single ‘All For You’ (distributed by UMG) is currently receiving regular BBC play across the country. The young, Baez-esque, singer-songwriter of the folk world returns year round to stage after stage to put on creative live performances nationally and internationally, and, for her sins, has been awarded Arts Council funding three times for her UK wide tours. See the video below.
She now lives in London, which fulfils her need for culture, but not nature …….
Arcadia Roots are a Worcestershire based band that deliver an exciting hypnotic blend of Trance, Dance, Reggae and Roots music.
The bands vibe has been described as ‘earthy’, ‘psychedelic’ and ‘infectious’. This 4 piece dance band combine world, reggae and rock music to create a very unique & captivating sound. To quote the Alabama 3 “We’ve never been on X Factor or Pop Idol”, we are doing things the old fashioned way by gigging as much as we can in as many places as we can to win over the fans who come to see us.
We don’t think Ava Lily has performed in her home town before, or, at least not since being signed to Virgin and moving to London. This paired-down is going to be a very special event at The Festival, that many will be very excited about – especially her mates from school!
THE UNCLES are a 6 piece rhythm and blues band. Formed with a common love of the genre, the band have drawn extensively on both experienced players from the Bristol circuit as well as fresh, new blood. Many of the band have played in other blues bands over the years and THE UNCLES are the culmination of that experience.
Don’t think that you don’t know these people! Good time blues – just view the video on front page of their website
Introducing Tequila Mockingbyrd, from Melbourne Australia. But fronted by Keynsham’s own Louisa Baker (how did that happen?) – well its year of the woman as well reflected by our Festival lineups: Enjoy this, and see them putting Keynsham on the map here (website): Then hear/watch the single of the month:
Next gig: Las Vegas next Friday!
